Prince William and Prince Harry will embark on a 12 day trip across South Africa on Honda CRF 230 enduro bikes.

The royal brothers will take part in the 2008 Enduro Africa event, which sees riders complete an exhaustive journey of 1500 miles off road.

The two men are keen motorcyclists and are reported to have been inspired by Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman’s epic trip, The Long Way Down, where the actors rode around the world on BMW’s.

Clarence House, the brothers official home in London announced on Wednesday that the two princes aged 26 and 23 respectively will complete the trip later this month.

The princes said the funds raised through their participation would be divided among UNICEF, the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund and Sentebale, a charity established by Prince Harry to help Lesotho’s orphans and vulnerable children.

MCN completed the inaugural Enduro Africa event in 2006 covering 1500 miles in two weeks. The royal brothers will have to cope with extreme temperatures, some of the world’s most demanding terrain and up to 14 hours in the saddle each day.
