ASDA has cut the price of unleaded petrol to below a pound.

The supermarket is now selling unleaded at 99.9p per litre, the lowest price this year.

Some ASDA forecourts have started to decrease the price while all 170 will be down to 99.9p by tomorrow morning.

ASDA last had prices below the £1 mark back in December last year meaning bikers will now pay around £3.50 less to fill up their tanks than they did when prices reached a high of 117.9p in July while car drivers will now save around £10.

ASDA trading director Darren Blackhurst said: “We are committed to delivering the best value to customers across the board and we review our prices daily to achieve this.

“Drivers should not be paying more than 99.9p a litre for unleaded fuel based on current oil prices. Past experience tells us that unless they live near an ASDA they still will be.”

Morrisons are also believed to have reduced their unleaded petrol to 99.9p per litre.
