ABS? No Thanks!

With regard to ABS for bikes i feel that it will not compensate for the lack of either steering or braking skill on the part of the rider.

ABS fitted on cars etc is fine, in good weather/condition. However in icy/slippery conditions it is a different situation altogether as no doubt many of us have experienced even under gentle use of brakes only to find that the brake pedal goes solid.

Whatever happend to the idea of using cadence braking (pumping the brakes on and off) as i was taught by my driving instructor on vehicles fitted without ABS?

It should remain an option to be fitted and not become standard. Would it not be a better option to limit the amount of bhp and speeds on bikes.

And yes i do ride, not a 21st century ‘rice rocket’ i must admit, but a rice rocket which does not have ABS and is still capable of keeping up with more newer machines.
