Anti-bike petrol station in Southampton

I have been purchasing fuel for years from my local Somerfield filling station in Swaythling road Southampton SO30 3AG.

When I called in the other day they had changed the policy to an anti biker one which caught me completely unaware.

I had filled up already and went in to pay. I was told by a singularly unpleasant woman at the desk that she would not serve me until I removed my helmet. I have to say that this is not a good approach and I’m afraid I did not respond well.

I informed her that the petrol was already in the tank so she could either accept payment or agree to allow me to leave without paying.

She took payment and I have taken steps to ensure I never use their filling station again.

I now regret that i have been regularly filling my van at the same station for years and so they have gained over £3000 per year from me.

I suppose the consolation is that I shall not be going back but I wish I’d realized they were anti bikers, and presumably believe that a thief would park at a pump fill with fuel and queue to pay.
