Cycle group fights motorcycles in bus lanes

A cycle group has renewed a call for complaints about a trial of motorcycles in bus lanes despite growing evidence it hasn’t affected safety.

Six months into the 18-month trial Transport for London (TfL), the capital’s transport authority, has said it is not aware of a single collision between a motorcyclist and cyclist in a bus lane.

Yet the London Cycling Campaign (LCC) has renewed a call for people to ‘register objections’ and ‘report incidents’.

The group’s homepage urges: ‘Now’s the time to make sure TfL take notice of cyclists’ views on the motorbikes on bus lanes trial.’

The group directs cyclists to an online TfL survey on the trial and warns: ‘The British Motorcycle Federation (sic) recently released a press release urging its members and other motorcyclists to visit TfL’s site to make their views known.’

LCC urges: ‘Please fill in TfL’s short online survey. Anyone can fill in TfL’s survey in a minute… and it’s imperative cyclists’ views are properly represented.’
