Watch out for this scammer!

I would like to relate our experience of a possible scam in the hope that no one else is duped by this conman…

My wife and I have advertised our bikes and have both received an identical email from a prospective purchaser wanting to buy the bike for his son as a graduation present. This would seem strange in itself as my bike is 1100cc and would be uninsurable to most University students.

The man then goes on to say that he is willing to pay by cheque if this is OK, but his grammar and phraseology at this point take a turn for the worse, adding to my suspicion:

“This is Roger, I saw your bike advert placed on net and I will like to make the purchase from you, please if it is still available kindly tell me because I am interested in the purchase for my Son, it will be a gift for is graduation so I hope it is presentable. I will like you to get back to me with the current condition, your stated selling price, your phone number where I can contact you and lastly I will like you to know that payment will be through a cheque.”

If you’re selling your bike and you recieve this message, stay clear!
