Brakko CWB system

You may have seen the Brakko braking system images in this week’s MCN (November 18 issue) and wondered how on earth the system worked.

Well here’s an explanatory video to help you work it out.

The CWB is a wheel with the brake disc enclosed centrally between the spokes called the Combined Wheel Brake.

By having the disc fixed directly in the longitudinal axis of the bike, the disc is central in the rim of the wheel meaning all the braking force is through the centre of the wheel.

The forks drop into fork bottoms attached to the hub but you could be looking at around the £6000 mark for a set.

However, the distributors are claimed two or three seconds being saved on the track.

It might be for the racer types only, but it’s damn cool.
