Britain’s got biking talent: JPS Norton NRS588 Replica

1 of 1

This Norton rep is the second finalist in the 2009 Britain’s got biking talent with Carole Nash competition.

Bike: JPS Norton NRS588 Replica

Owner: Tony Haywood, 52, Derbyshire

Why this bike: Because of the rotary engine and the fact it’s something completely different – I didn’t want anything run of the mill.

Modifications: Yamaha OW-01-derived five speed gearbox and exhaust, Spondon frame, swing arm, fuel tank, yokes, clip-ons, fairing bracket, battery box, and 320mm brake discs and Ohlins rear shock and forks, six-piston front brake calipers and Brembo rear brake

Favourite thing about it: The ex-works engine and keeping the parts as faithful to the original as possible. Ex-Norton racer Trevor Nation has seen the replica and said he was gobsmacked. He said if anything its better than the original.

The competition: The overall winner of the Britain’s got biking talent with Carole Nash competition will be crowned at the Carole Nash NEC Bike Show
on Thursday November 26.

All 12 bikes will be on show at the Britain’s got biking talent stand (location 2B15) all week.

You will be able to pick up a free calendar featuring all 12 finalists at the Carole Nash stand (location 2C20).

If you can’t make it to the show, but would still like a calendar log on to http://www.carolenash.com/biketalent_cal.asp to order one at a small cost.
