DVLA rooftop protest over lost bike licence

1 of 1

An MCN reader is planning a rooftop protest after the DVLA lost all records of his motorcycle licence and then denied he’d ever had one.

Dave Hill, 46, says he will scale DVLA headquarters in Swansea and doesn’t care if he gets arrested.

MCN revealed in July how the DVLA had refused to reinstate Hill’s bike licence despite a court accepting he had one. The Agency has now said it will only act if Hill can provide the name of the examiner who put him through his bike test – 26 years ago.

The lorry driver said: “I’ve been looking at the building on Google Earth and I reckon I can get up there if I run in with a ladder.”

Hill is one of hundreds of riders to get a replacement licence from DVLA with motorcycle entitlement missing and then be told they never had it in the first place.

The DVLA this week begins a consultation proposing our solution to the shambles, which is to return old licences when replacements are issued. Help pile pressure on the Agency to adopt our idea by signing our petition here: www.gopetition.co.uk/online/29956.html
