In the February 10 issue of MCN, we’ve tested the revised 2010 Yamaha R6 against the 2008-2009 model R6, in order to find out exactly what difference the new ECU and exhaust has made.

The older bike is very similar and still a good bike – so we’ve found a few examples of the older bike (both new and used) at bargain prices well below the £8999 list price of the new bike. Here’s our pick:

2009 Yamaha YZF-R6 £7599

A cancelled order means this dealer has one unused blue bike in stock – they’re offering it with £99 deposit and 0% finance too.

2009 Yamaha YZF-R6 £6394

With 1900 miles on, this smart black bike is only just run in and the original tyres will have plenty of life in. Standard apart from an alarm and tail tidy – they’re a big job to fit, so it’ll save you considerable effort.

2009 Yamaha YZF-R6 £5995

4000 miles on the clock, but it’s a full £3k less than a new 2010 bike. Completely standard, and the blue with gold wheels is stunning.

2008 Yamaha YZF-R6 £6295

The 2008 model is identical to the 2009 model – this red/white bike is classic R-series colours, and is absolutely stock. It’s a used bike, but at £2800 less than new it’s a great buy.

2008 Yamaha YZF-R6 £6295

Another mint used bike, this 3500-milebike is fitted with quality rearsets, exhaust, crash protection and other neat aftermarket parts. Smartly done, and there’s over £1000 worth of bits fitted – adding to the saving over new if you wanted those bits anyway.
