Fantasy Road Race Round Up

1 of 1

Crisis in the Fiat Yamaha camp could prompt some interesting team reshuffles if you’re quick – the transfer window closes this weekend!

With Biaggi in the ascendant in WSB, all that was needed for the world to turn completely on its head was for Rossi to plunge into a sudden decline – and so it’s proved this month.

The world winced as Rossi’s Bridgestone had an unexpected hissy fit, but thousands of team managers would have felt an additional, selfish, pang as the M1 flung him skyward. The first serious accident for the greatest rider of all time is also a serious blow to any Fantasy Road Race team spearheaded by the Tavullian. And you’ve got just two days (ending at midnight on Friday) to find a suitable replacement – an even harsher deadline than that facing Fiat Yamaha itself.

No such concerns for this round’s winner, Paige Alston with her team ‘Daddys Girls’ bagging a colossal 281 points. Right now her team looks like a model of foresight, led by the ever more complete-looking Jorge Lorenzo partnered with the maturing (and cheap) de Puniet who’s easily besting more-fancied rivals like Spies, Melandri and even Stoner.

In WSB Biaggi and Haslam were a rock-solid selection and even her BSB choices look visionary. At a cost of £1.1 Michael Laverty’s 102 points give him a points-per-pound ratio bested only by the pricier Tommy Hill (£1.4m), and even her loose-change selection, Martin Jessop (£0.4m), has netted 57 points, putting him well inside the top ten points earners.

Who should Rossi managers look to for a temporary replacement? How about Dovizioso? He gives you £0.7m change to spend on super-subs in the other champs – Checa in WSB (£1.5m), de Puniet in MotoGP (£1.9m) and a resurgent Rutter (£1.0m) in BSB are all worth a long look.
