"No no no! Tom Cruise is on a Ducati" - updated

The plot thickens. First an American journalist spotted that the Ducati Hypermotard ridden by Tom Cruise in his latest film had assorted Aprilia bits bolted on, such as an engine and swingarm (see here).

The implication was that the Hypermotard wasn’t capable of some of the films’ stunts. Now Ducati has responded by saying an unmolested Hypermotard was definitely used for stunts and provided this picture as evidence.

Update: Right. Here’s the latest instalment of the saga. Ducati state that the Aprilia/Ducati hybrid seen being ridden by Tom Cruise was only used in a promotional video made by ESPN. It was not used at all in the film Knight and Day every bike in that is a genuine Ducati Hypermotard.
The film better be good after all this. I’ll be very disappointed if a ringy-ding two-stroke sound-track is dubbed over the Ducati (as is generally the Hollywood way).
