London to Syria 2010

London to Syria 2010: St. Mary’s, Wandsworth to Sayyedah Zaynab, Syria.

Four friends are riding across Europe to Syria, and then in a loop around Syria, to raise money for SOS Children’s Villages.

The riders are: Alexis Cardes on a Yamaha XT660R, Peter Phillips on a BMW F650GS, Phillip Sawyer on a Kawasaki ZZR1100 and Fred George (who is 68) on a 500cc Royal Enfield!

They left on 6th June 2010 from St Mary’s in Wandsworth. Along the way there have been various trials and tribulations and a smattering of minor mechanical problems – many of which have been Scottoiler and Enfield related.

The traffic has at times been “interesting”, the Bulgarian roads awful and the temperatures almost unbearably hot. But they’re surviving!

Today, 15th June, they’re in Turkey, heading toward the border with Syria. They’ll be visiting two SOS Children’s Villages during their time in Syria – Damascus and Aleppo.

They’re exhausted, sore, aching but in good spirits. All of this is to raise money to help disadvantaged children.

Their continuing adventures can be followed on Facebook : http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=251035259342&v=wall
