Police have unveiled a Yamaha FJR1300 stealth video bike which will be used to target motorcyclists.

The 140bhp plain-back super-tourer is fitted with a high-tech video system that records to DVD and allows officers to add running commentary. The bike will patrol popular biking routes in Cheshire.

Cheshire Police’s Sgt Richard Weaver said: “Officers on the unmarked motorcycle will be using their judgement and experience when stopping riders, engaging with and educating bikers as appropriate.

“For example, if someone has made minor judgement errors, then they’ll be stopped, shown a video recording of their riding and given suitable advice.

“However, those committing serious and dangerous offences will be dealt with through fixed penalty notices or in the courts.”

A force spokesman added: “Offences by other motorists will not be ignored.”
