Shake-up for 2012 Lansdowne classic series

1 of 6

Classic racing club, Lansdowne will introduce a number of changes for the 2012 season, including a control tyre for their Bonhams British Historic Grand Prix Championship.

Just like BSB, WSB and MotoGP, competitors riding pre-1964 Grand Prix machines will all have to use the same tyres – Avon’s 19-inch racing rubber. Lansdowne are expecting this to make the series closer than ever.

The Lansdowne Cup will now be called the WRR Lansdowne Cup, in memory of Roy Richards, founder of The National Motorcycle Museum, one of the series’ four sponsors. The others are Bonhams the auctioneers, Classic Motorcycle magazine and Avon tyres.

2012 race dates have yet to be confirmed, but expect the series to visit Oulton Park, Thruxton, Brands HartchGP, Pembrey, Snetterton and Cadwell Park.
