The sale of a helmet worn on Jupiter's Travels is the highlight of the launch of the Ted Simon Foundation next month.
Ted famously rode around the world on a 500cc Triumph over four years in the 1970s. His book, Jupiter’s Travels, became a global best seller and inspired many of today’s adventure riders.
Now, his foundation, which is a non-profit organisation, aims to support adventure travel authors, filmmakers and photographers.
Its launch takes place on 6th October, the 38th anniversary of the start of Simon’s journey, and will be attended by Ted himself. There will also be an auction of memorabilia including the Triumph motorcycle helmet he wore during his travels, a VIP tour of Triumph's current factory in Hinckley; Austin Vince's white overalls from his ground-breaking Terra Circa journey; the jacket worn by Chris Scott during his Desert Riders expedition and a first edition of Jupiter's Travels from 1979.
The launch and auction takes place at Coventry Transport Museum. For further details visit www.jupiterstravellers.org
