Win a hotel room for the Isle of Man TT raceweek

1 of 2

You can win a room for two people in an innovative new temporary hotel at this year’s Isle of Man TT worth £1393.

The prize is for a room at the unique Snoozebox portable hotel which has just been granted planning permission to set up at the 2012 Isle of Man TT right inside the TT Village at Noble’s Park in Douglas. The start/finish straight and famous TT pitlane and scoreboard will be just minutes away. One winner will have access to a free room for seven nights from Saturday June 2 through to Friday 8 June.

Snoozebox has been operating at Silverstone and other motorsport venues for the past year but this is the first time the company has been allowed to set-up at the TT.

The Isle of Man TT is already so busy for 2012 that there are no hotel rooms available anywhere on the Island so the 260 rooms at the Snoozebox are all that is left. Rooms for rent will go on sale on March 7 at 10.30am.

The prize includes: Seven nights stay during race week for two people (or two adults and one child under 12 years). All you will have to pay for is getting to the Isle of Man and food outside of the free breakfast provided.

The room includes:

– Twin beds (double + bunk)
– Storage and hanging space
– En-suite wet room with toilet, basin and shower
– Personal safe
– Flat screen TV
– Free WiFi access
– Two power points
– Serviced daily with fresh towels and toiletries
– Air conditioning and heating
– Key-card entry
– Breakfast included
– Official race programme for each guest

Isle of Man Department of Economic Development Member for Tourism Geoff Corkish said:

“There is a huge demand for TT accommodation each year over and above the industry provision.”

“Despite the growing response to Homestay and campsite provision we still need to meet increasing demand at this period. This is an exciting initiative to provide temporary quality accommodation as the popularity of the TT continues to grow.”

Snoozebox CEO Robert Breare added: “We are absolutely thrilled with the opportunity to site a Snoozebox hotel at the heart of the Isle of Man TT in Noble’s Park.”

“We would like to thank Douglas Council, the Tourism Division, TT Motorsports Team, Regency Travel and all the professional consultants on the Island who have supported us and help secure our successful planning application.”

“For prestigious international events like the Isle of Man TT, our unique and innovative temporary hotel is the perfect solution for quality short-term accommodation where demand for rooms outstrips supply. We are confident that Snoozebox will be a big hit with visitors to the TT.”

MCN tested Silverstone Snoozebox

Sleeping in a converted shipping container might sound like a disastrous idea, but MCN was shocked how civilised Silverstone’s new Snoozebox hotel was. MCN’s Andy Downes said: “My Silverstone WSB weekend was spent sampling the innovative Snoozebox hotel with my two young children. I was, frankly, amazed. The rooms have a comfortable bed, powerful shower, toilet, flat screen TV and free wireless internet access. The air-conditioning was amazingly effective and you get access to a hospitality area with a big screen TV, sofas and a bar.

“Based behind the old start/finish straight at Copse, the hotel consisted of four converted shipping containers with bedrooms and bathrooms inside. Breakfast is included with rooms and it costs £325 for Friday and Saturday nights or £375 for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. That’s for two people sharing which works out at £62.50 per night each.
