A new world record sale price for a classic motorcycle has been set by historic Brough Superior ‘Old Bill’, which sold for £291,200 at H&H’s Duxford auction on Tuesday.

The bike, built in 1922 for the personal use of Brough Superior founder, George Brough who raced it to over 50 sprint victories, is considered one of the most historic of all British classics – hence the high price.

A museum exhibit since 1992 it has been bought by an American collector and is expected to be shipped to the US.
