MCN 60 greatest bikes; staff picks

1 of 3

MCN has turned 60 this year and what better way to celebrate this milestone than by naming the top 60 bikes of all time as voted for by you. All this week we will be choosing some of our favourites from the list. For the full 60 greatest bikes and further details, pick up a copy of this week’s MCN, out Wednesday.

Here are Senior Road Tester, Adam Child’s selection of the bikes you voted for:

Vincent Black Shadow

The legendary Vincent Black Shadow was the fastest production bike of its time. It’s speed and performance was way ahead of the competition, the 998cc twin propelled the Black Shadow to a 125mph top speed; this in 1955.It still looks stunning today making it for me one of the most desirable bikes of all time.

Yamaha FS1-E

I owned a FS1E, ‘fizzy’ when I was kid and again just a few years ago. Thankfully the little two-stroke hasn’t lost any of its charm. It’s impossible not to smile whilst riding the peddle powered moped. I’m still gutted I sold it to John McGuinness a few years ago.

Suzuki RGV250SP

When I was a teenager I so badly wanted a Suzuki RGV250SP, I would have sold a kidney to own one. It was, to many, a two-stroke GP bike for the road. It looked like a race bike and handled like one too, becoming the club racers weapon of choice. Producing around 50bhp and weighing in around 130kg, it was a GP bike for the road; I still want one.
