'A museum with a clubhouse mentality'

1 of 1

This very friendly-biker venue is shed-heaven. The Battlesbridge Motorcycle Museum is a great place to meet up on a Sunday.

MCN contributor Justin Hayzelden visited last month and was pleasantly suprised by the turnout and the friendliness of the place: “I’d barley got my helmet off before someone wandered over with a cheery hello and no sooner had I got inside, there was the offer of a hot cuppa to warm my chilly bits.”

There are sheds packed full of classic and vintage machinery, with up to 40 bikes at any one time, so why not visit, eh?

It feels more like a clubhouse than an attraction and owner Dave Evans explained why: “It’s a focal point for our guys who know that every Sunday they can come down to spend a few hours sitting around drinking tea and having a general chinwag.

“Everyone’s welcome and you can stay all day until whoever’s on duty says they’ve had enough and tells everyone to bugger off.”

This relatively undiscovered gem is located at the heart of Battlesbridge Antiques Centre and among the numerous stalls, sheds and emporia, are several places to grab a bite.

Drop in for an hour or spend the day, all welcome, every Sunday and Bank Holiday throughout the year. Entry is £1 – Find it here: 5 Maltings Road, Battlesbridge, Essex, SS11 7RF.

Don’t forget, this is a good way to rack-up some miles for your #ride500miles tally.
