BSB and TT stars Jenny Tinmouth and Maria Costello have unveiled a special liveried Honda Fireblade at the Goodwood Festival of Speed – and it’s all in aid of the Dare to be Different charity.

Dare to be Different has been set up with the intention of helping to inspire and showcase female talent within the normally male-dominated motorsport industry.

Honda have offered their support of the project too, by providing the motorcycles that will be used to help promote the charity through this year, starting with the run up Goodwood’s iconic hill.

“We are really excited to be able to help this campaign,” said David Rogers, Motorcycle PR Manager at Honda. “We are always looking for ways to promote equality and provide opportunities. Jenny Tinmouth raced with us for two full seasons in our British Superbike team and she will continue to be involved in 2017, as an ambassador.”

The charity wants to establish itself as a beacon to help women and girls get more involved with motorsport, promote talent and encourage and inspire women to consider motorsport as a career option – increasing female participation not only on track, but throughout the industry.

It was set up last year by Susie Wolff MBE in association with the Motor Sport Association, quickly establishing itself as a fantastic opportunity to promote female talent.

“I am so proud to see the Honda Fireblade go up the famous Goodwood Hill in the Dare To Be Different livery,” said Wolff. “This is a very special moment for us as we embrace the world of two wheels as well as four.”

Furthermore, Costello and Tinmouth have both been announced as ambassadors to the charity too, helping to inspire future female riders.

“We now have two fantastic female ambassadors from the two-wheeled world in Maria and Jenny, and we’re very much looking forward to working with them both,” Wolff added.

The charity will be making appearances at events throughout the year, check out the Dare to be Different website for more information and upcoming dates.
