GSX14 hits 5000 miles

Published: 11 August 2004

MCN'S Suzuki GSX1400 long-termer is now 5000 miles old and is really coming into its own.

The first report on the bike, supplied by Fowlers of Bristol on long-term loan, is in the August 11 issue of MCN.

Since that report there have been a few more thousand miles and a couple of important modifications. New Metzeler Z6 tyres are aiding confidence on back roads and are performing well in the wet, which is useful at this time of year.

And an Ermax Speed Max screen is helping keep the windblast at bay on longer journeys. It can't stop the battering entirely and isn't the prettiest addition to a bike, but the extra practicality means it's worth it.

As a bike that lives in the 60mph-90mph zone, the GSX is spot-on. But it's the only one of our long-term fleet that you won't be seeing on track at our Rockingham Meet the Team nights on Wednesdays in August.

Sorry, but I'm just not up for muscling it around. You can still see the bike in the paddock on August 25 and September 1, though. Come and say hello.
