MCN tour hits NW200

1 of 1

MCN’s dynamic touring duo, Angus Farquhar and Marc Abbott, have spent the afternoon in Joey’s Bar on their trip around Northern Ireland and Eire.

Farquhar says the weather is good and spirits are high as they prepare for an afternoon of great roads and stunning scenery.

Farquhar, on his used CBR600F long termer supplied by DK Motorcycles and Abbott, on his used VFR800 long termer supplied by CMC Motorcycles, set off on Tuesday night (August 10) getting the ferry over on Wednesday morning and spending the first night in Dublin.

On Thursday they rode up on single-carriageway lorry-clogged roads from Dublin to Belfast.

Friday has taken them from Belfast to Joey’s Bar (as in Joey Dunlop) and on Friday afternoon the plan is to try a lap of the North-West 200 course.

They will stay in Belfast again tonight (Friday August 13) and then head south on Saturday morning, riding around the Wicklow Mountains with a planned overnight stop in Arklow.

On Sunday they’ll be setting off on the long journey home. Keep an eye out for them en route from Arklow on Sunday morning towards Rosslare for the ferry.

They’ll be landing at Fishguard and heading back across country towards Peterborough throughout Sunday.

The VFR has had no problems so far. The CBR600 was suffering a headlight and rear light problem but this appears to have resolved itself – its likely cause; too much rain water on Tuesday (when it was ridden through a foot-deep flood!).

The bike’s centrestand came loose on the ride to Dublin and has had to be removed and left behind.
