GSX-R breezes service

1 of 1

My GSX-R1000 has sailed through its first service – and that’s a stage further than the first one I had this year…

That one, you may recall, got stolen the day before it was booked in for its first service.

My new GSX-R1000Z (the limited edition black one) went in to Hallens in Cambridge (well, to the Histon road Allins shop where the servicing is done) for its 500-mile check up, on Wednesday, June 30.

A change of oil (still on semi-synthetic until 3000-4000 miles we’re told is best), copper-slipped calipers and a cleaned, adjusted and lubed chain later and we’re pretty much ready to roll.

Fluid levels are checked, free play in levers and cables scanned, but it’s all over in 90 minutes, including a quick once over with some polish.

All set for the California Superbike School on Thursday (July now. It’s level 1 for me. I’ll let you know how the bike and I get on very soon.
