MCN Editor tests the Ducati 1098S

MCN Editor Marc Potter has just stepped off the brand-new Ducati 1098S at the Kyalami track in South Africa. He has already spent the morning on the standard 1098 and has now got to grips with the higher power bike with a full Termignoni exhaust system and uprated ECU. The S also has Ohlins latest forks and shock fitted.

He said: “Compared to the 1098 the S takes the nimble and light handling of the 1098 to another level. I can’t think of another bike that would be better for track days than this – and this is before it even hits proper power because of the altitude up here at Kyalami.

“The suspension is so adjustable it allows you to take full advantage of the Brembo brakes – which are some of the best I have ever tried on a road bike.

“The suspension improvements mean you have to relearn the track because you can carry so much more corner speed.”
