MCN road testers Adam Child and Bruce Dunn tested the 2008 model to its limits at Bruntingthorpe circuit in Leicestershire with the help of five old Hayabusa owners. Take a look at the video below to see what happened when MCN road tester, Adam Child put the Suzuki GSX-R600 through its paces.   Adam’s technically-gifted brother, Mark, and long-suffering dad finally got the old GSX-R600 ready for Elvington, the last meeting at the airfield track with Auto 66.   The motor  was up and running, Mark has even fitted a crank case breather system, all home made,...

Video: Akrapovic adds more power to Kawasaki Z1000

Watch this exclusive MCN video to see the fitting of a full Akrapovic exhaust to my long term test Kawasaki Z1000 motorcycle, which not only dropped loads of weight off the motorcycle but also gave another 11bhp. The Kawasaki Z1000’s stock exhausts are the only ‘Marmite’ part of the motorcycle, judging by MCN readers’ comments, which range from ‘distinctive’ to ‘minging’. Find parts and...

Kawasaki GTR1400 - an owner's view

The GTR1400 is slick, fast and very comfortable and I’ve also done 4000 miles but don’t worry about the fuel consumption. Mine averages around 30-33 mpg until we get on the motorway and hour after hour its 40-44 mpg averaging out at around 180 miles to a tank. On B-roads it’s thirsty but it is a big lump (mind you so am I) but it does redeem itself slightly on long rides which to be fair is what...

It’s half motorcycle and half automatic scooter, but is it any good? MCN man Michael Neeves travels to Turin to ride the new Aprilia Mana. Check out the video below to see how the bike faired in the Turin traffic and twisty country roads.

Video: Aprilia Shiver vs.the Suzuki SV650, BMW F800 and Street Triple

Aprilia’s new Shiver 750 v-twin is no ordinary naked bike, it handles like a supermoto and boasts a fly-by-wire throttle. Check out the video below to see how it fairs in the real world against the sensible usability of the Suzuki SV650, the handling of the BMW F800S or the shear fun of the Triumph Street Triple.

Video: The back roads of Britain by Bullet

“We were two up, weighed down with a tank bag and saddlebags, and lost somewhere in Wiltshire, trying to ride up a one-in-four narrow lane that was bereft Tarmac and covered in loose gravel. “The Bullet was chugging away effortlessly in second gear and I swear to God you could count each firing stroke. It was so utterly ludicrous in this modern era that I burst out laughing and nearly veered off...

Video: Italjet are back with the Grifon 650

Italjet is one of Italy’s most famous bike makers. They went out of business in 2003, but now they’re back making scooters, quads and pit bikes – but the Grifon 650 could be their first step back onto the big-bike ladder. It’s a collaboration between Hyosung and Italjet; the 650cc V-twin engine and chassis comes from the Korean firm, while things like the suspension, spoked wheels, suspension,...

Video: Trails of the unexpected Part III

Time for the off. Can our three vintage trail bikes make it to Scarborough unscathed? And which will win? The moment, or hopefully...

BMW F800ST

Anyone with the age-old problem of a 29-inch or less inside leg measurement will know all too well the difficulty in finding a bike that allows you to get both feet, or even tip-toes, flat on the floor at standstill. Custom bikes, cruisers, custom-cruisers aren’t everyone’s cup of Typhoo, but at least they have low seat heights. For a more sportier way of life the occasional imported Japanese...
