Picture special: Budget Yamaha Tenere gives a taste of adventure

1 of 20

Yamaha’s XT660Z Tenere is aimed at riders who dream of adventuring to the end of the Tarmac and beyond. With long travel suspension, a huge 250 mile tank range and practical ‘crash resistant’ panels the Tenere is Tonka toy tough.

The third model in Yamaha’s XT660Z range, the Tenere shares the same single cylinder thumper engine but has a brand new tubular steel frame designed to cope with the extra weight of luggage and a possible pillion.

It also features a large 6.8 litre airbox with paper air filter that Yamaha claim you can “remove and clean under a palm tree”.

And for those who know about the history of the XT660 engine, you’ll be pleased to hear the snatchy and surging fuel injection has been fixed. Probably due in part to the Airbox.

Check out these pictures as MCN’s Deputy Editor, Ped Baker, took on the Moroccon terrain – not always winning as you’ll see – at the launch of the Yamaha XT660Z Tenere.

To see the full specifications and more details of Ped’s trip, check out this week’s MCN, out Wednesday, April 16, 2008.
