Norton's brand new production Commando 961 SE will be tested for the very first time by MCN on Friday.
The eagerly-awaited, British-built machine has been fully re-engineered after a full year's worth of development and features an all-new, air-cooled, fuel-injected 961cc parallel twin engine good for an expected 85-90bhp; a chrome-moly steel tube chassis and bristles with the very best in cycle parts such as Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes and BST carbon-fibre wheels.
It’s the very first model from the newly rejuvenated Norton marque since it came under the ownership of Midlands businessman Stuart Garner and moved to factory premises at Donington Park. This first bike is No.1 of a limited edition run of 200 machines, all of which have sold out despite a price of £15,999. Further, lower priced models are expected soon.
Executive Editor Phil West has been granted an exclusive test of the first new Norton in 20 years. Check back tomorrow to find out his first impressions...
