Everytime I fire up my KTM450 EXC-F there’s a feeling that only a pure race bike can bring.
The way it jumps on the sidestands responding to every angry rise and fall of the revs, the way it barks angrily even out of the standard can just gets me going everytime.
Following a full service at Gear4 KTM in Market Deeping there wasn’t much to do to the bike but I still managed to spend hours in the garage last night tweaking and fiddling. It passed through the service with no problems just needing an oil and filter change, everything checked and adjusted and the clutch adjusted as it occasionally drags. Other than that it’s coping well although to be honest it hasn’t had as much use as I would have liked this year.
But in the last month I’ve leant it to colleagues for a day of practice on the MX track at Chippenham and for a day-long enduro.
I spent hours in the garage last night, tightening and tweaking every nut and bolt until it was right (even though it was) ready for a full day’s riding with some mates down in Kent.
Fuelled-up, kit loaded up and on my way to the A14 a bird hit the windscreen of my Nissan Primastar van and shattered the windscreen. Unfortunately it meant my day’s riding was over and the beautifully prepped 450 gets to see another day for riding carnage.
