The production version of KTM’s eagerly awaited, all-new 1190 Adventure is currently being put through its paces in Tenerife by MCN’s Michael Guy. He’s so far ridden about 120km on a mixture of windy mountain passes and town roads. Here are his first impressions:
"The overwhelming first impression is the new 1190cc engine: it’s significantly stronger and bears no comparison to the old 990 version. KTM claim 150bhp and I’ve got no reason to doubt that figure. It’s a fast and capable bike on the road.
"The power is very useable and very smooth at low revs. It is very technically advanced bike in terms of the electronics with four main riding modes, which not only change the fuelling and power but also adjust the suspension.
"I’ve another 200km to ride this afternoon, taking in 50km of motorway riding so I’ll have sampled all kinds of roads by the end of the day."
