BMW R nineT launch today

MCN is at the launch of BMW’s beautiful new retro-style R nineT in southern Spain today.

Senior Road Tester Michael Neeves will ride the new machine, which is powered by the six-speed, 110bhp, 1170cc boxer-twin motor, taken from the previous-generation BMW R1200 model range.

The motor is housed in an all-new tubular steel chassis. There’s S1000RR upside forks up front and a traditional BMW Paralever with a single shock and shaft drive at the rear.

BMW has deliberately made the R nineT customisable, so owners can chop and change as they see fit. The pillion seat unbolts from the frame to leave a stubby seat unit and the swingarm has hole on to which you can mount a chopper-style, side-mounted number plate holder.

To see the new, NineT in the metal, visit the MCN Carole Nash London Motorcycle Show in February.
