Suzuki V-Strom 650XT first ride incoming

1 of 4

We’re heading to Spain this week to ride the new Suzuki V-Strom 650XT, which features new styling more like its big brother, the V-Strom 1000, and updates to the 645cc V-twin engine.

The new engine is of course Euro4 compliant and the fuel injection system is upgraded with 10-point injectors. Other updates include resin-coated pistons and exhaust camshafts from the new SV650 and dual spark heads with high-ignition nickel spark plugs for improved efficiency. There are more than 60 engine component revisions in total.

The 650XT will now come with three-mode traction control from the V-Strom 1000. The rider can select three modes (1,2 and off). Mode 1 has a lower level of intervention applied at a later timing allowing a certain degree of rear wheel spin, while Mode 2 has a higher level of intervention that’s applied instantly, controlling and preventing spin.

The 650XT is differentiated from the standard V-Strom 650 by gold wire-laced wheels and bashplate.

The new 650XT will be available in Champion Yellow, Pearl Glacier White and Glass Sparkle Black.
