First pictures of new big-bore Kawasaki ZX-6R

Kawasaki’s ZX-6R is getting a bigger-bore engine for 2002, as this exclusive picture reveals. And this is just the first of a series of Kawasaki scoops you can expect to see on this site very soon.

We’ll be adding more details about this bike and pictures of two more new Kawasakis before long.

The 636cc capacity of the 2002 6R is expected to give it between 6 and 10bhp more power. The bodywork, frame and chassis are little changed but the fact that the 6R now moves above 600cc is a significant change.

It remains to be seen what insurers will make of it, and whether or not this will spark a rush of ” 600 ” class bikes with bigger capacities.
