Grab an '03 bargain

1 of 1

If price is the first thing you think about when you’re shopping for a new bike then there are some great deals to be had if you’re prepared to go without that ’04 tag.

There are minimal changes on most of the 600cc sports bikes this year so buying a new ’03 bike won’t mean you get left behind, but will definitely leave you with a fatter wallet.

We’ve spotted an ’03 Yamaha R6 for just £5999 in MCN, that’s £200 cheaper than the best deal on an ’04 model. You could pick up an ’03 Kawasaki ZX-6R for as little as £5799 – £1500 down on the ’04 list price.

Some of our readers have been able to pick up ’03 Honda CBR600RRs for £6000 with a few extras thrown in, but the ’04 bike is going for as much as £800 more.

Suzuki’s GSX-R1000 is also mainly unchanged for 2004 but it has to contend with the all new R1, ZX-10R and Blade so there are some real bargains to be had. Some dealers are offering the K4 for as little as £7199 – that’s £1350 off list price.

The new Honda Fireblade can be found for £400 off list price at £8399, but the Kawasaki ZX-10R is still going for around its asking price of £8650 while you can’t get a Yamaha R1 for less than £9000.

Have you just bought a new bike? How much did you pay and what did you get for your money?

We want to track the real prices real riders are paying right now. And we’ll share your feedback with the thousands of users who visit this site every day.

We’d like to know: The make, model and year of the bike you bought, what the list price was and how much you actually paid (and any extras that got thrown in to sweeten the deal), whether the bike is an official or parallel import and which region of the nation you bought the bike in. Please also include your daytime contact telephone number, name and age.
