BMW’s 167bhp K1200S will be launched in all 36 of the firm’s UK and Ireland dealerships on Saturday, September 25. And the price has been announced.

It will be listed at £9750 – quite a premium compared to rivals such as Kawasaki’s £8995 ZX-12R, Honda’s £8499 Super Blackbird or Suzuki’s £8299. But it’s only £140 more than the current BMW K1200RS. ABS will be an extra cost option.

Dealers will be taking bookings for demo rides from that date.

Each BMW dealership will host a celebratory day full of activities and displays to welcome the K1200S. Bike handling skills, rock climbing and track events are among them – plus plasma screens showing the K1200 S in action on the Nürburgring in Germany.

The bike was given its public debut at the Munich Bike Show this week.

It will come in a choice of two colour schemes – indigo Blue Metallic/Alpine White, and Sun Yellow non-Metallic/White Aluminium/Dark Graphite Metallic.
