Yamaha YZF450 turns on its head

Yamaha has turned engine convention on its head by introducing a reverse cylinderhead design for the new YZF450 which is said to give the four-stroke the handling characteristics of a two-stroke.

MCN was the first to reveal Yamaha was planning this move more than a year ago when we discovered patent drawings detailing a reverse cylinderhead design. Now Yamaha has revealed the full technical details of the bike it hopes will be enough to win motocross world titles.
