Norton building a bigger future

Published: 01 July 2011

Norton took two big steps toward an even bigger future this week, with production of its first Euro 3-compliant Commandos, and the approval of plans for a substantial new Donington Park factory.

Euro 3 is the latest EU emissions standard for bikes and compliance means Commandos are now marketable in a bigger range of countries worldwide and potentially speeds up the rate of production significantly.

Until now each Commando had to go through Single Vehicle Approval (SVA) with VOSA, a costly and more importantly time-consuming process. Now newly-built Commandos will be able to roll off the production line straight to customers and dealers.

Norton boss Stuart Gardner told MCN: “These are big positives for Norton - the Euro 3 compliant bikes are shipping, more of the manufacturing side of production is coming in house and the new factory has been approved by the circuit owners…”
