2012 BMW S1000RR first ride

BMW’s significantly updated S1000RR is currently being tested at its world launch at Valencia, Spain. Senior Road Tester, Adam Child, is there on behalf of MCN and has just completed his third session. These are his first impressions.

“The first two sessions were in race mode, which is much improved over the old bike. On the old bike the race mode traction control setting was far too intrusive and mechanical for the track but now it’s far less intrusive and gives the rider more feel of what is happening. It was perfect in the cold temperatures this morning. I’ve now just done one session in ‘slick mode’, which again is a huge improvement over the old bike.”
