Great roads of the South: Part 2

1 of 1

This week we’re looking at 6 great roads you can ride in the South, as suggested by you.

These are the best roads in Britain, according to our high-mileage #ride5000miles members. Become part of the community by joining the Facebook group and find out more information about it here.

Yesterday’s route was on the B2042 from Sevenoaks to Edenbridge, but if you’re after some roads a bit further up the country then be sure to check out some of our great roads of the North.

Our second route is a coastal cruise from Great Yarmouth to Heacham and was nominated by Wayne Coleman

“It could also be the perfect starting place for a tour exploring more of the coastline.”

Length

75.2 miles

Love it because

A mixture of coastal views and countryside greenery, this is a great ride for those wanting more than just a twisty-road blat on a sunny weekend morning. Passing through many towns to stop and explore, as well as offering plenty of opportunities for pictures, this is a route you could stretch over a full day.

Take a picture at

Brancaster Staithe for its natural beauty, carpark and wildlife.

Stop for a cuppa at

The Kingfisher Café, Walcott, is a great biker haunt and does a very mean fry-up.

Watch out for

This is a very touristy area, popular with holidaymakers. Watch out for dawdling drivers dragging caravans as you ride along. The best time is an evening ride.

Best bike for the job

Unless it’s early morning or evening, slow down and lap up the views with a cruiser.
