The top 5 all-weather boots for winter

Published: 05 November 2008

Winter is coming and nobody likes wet socks. But have no fear, luckily MCN's sister title RiDE recently conducted a test to determine the top 5 all-weather boots to help keep you warm and dry this winter.

The boots were tested on a number of factors, including comfort, abrasion and impact protection, feel, warmth and of course waterproofing.

If you're looking to get youself kitted out in winter gear, visit the MCN shop to compare and buy products from different online retailers and get the best price possible.

Here's RiDE magazine's run down of the top 5 all-weather boots on the market:

1- TCX Infinity GTX

A clear victory thanks to full marks in both abrasion/impact and waterproofing. The uppers lasted more than two minutes on our abrasion rig- nothing else came close. Utterly waterproof and with full marks in the warmth test. They take time to break in- but then they're extremely comfortable.

Test rating: 80/90
Price: RRP £189.99

2- Altberg Clubman Roadster

Warm, dry and sturdy. But need some time to break in.

Test rating: 70/90
Price: £179.99

3 BMW Santiago

Extremely comfortable, but won't stand a soaking.

Test rating: 68/90
Price: £205

4= Sidi Vertigo Goretex

Loads of feel, waterproof, but not very warm.

Test rating: 59/90
Price: £229.95

4= Axo Primato

Take time to break in, good feel, but will leak.

Test rating: 59/40
Price: £109.99
