Spyke Fuel Race Gloves, £110
Miles covered/time: 6500/nine months
What’s good: These Spyke gloves are a replacement for an older set that wore out after three years of constant use. From the start they have been comfortable and can cope with hot and cold temperatures. These are not winter gloves but manage to keep out the cold to around five or six degrees celcius for a 30-mile ride. In summer they stay cool and offer loads of protection thanks to carbon knuckle and back of the hand protectors. Wrist adjustment is good enough to suit most sizes of wrist and leathers.
What’s not: They are not that easy to get hold of in the UK although you can order from Europe. I’m not that much of a fan of the painted Spyke logo across the knuckles but the latest versions don’t have this slightly garish style.
