RiDE review: Oxford Montreal jacket

Published: 12 April 2016

This updated version of one of Oxford’s most popular items is brimming with neat details.

It has a baggier and shorter feel than the Weise, and a better ventilation system, plus a simple popper to keep the collar held open for extra cooling air on hot days. There’s also a hood built into the collar, for use off the bike or indeed on the bike in heavy rain.

There are waterproof front and rear pockets (but only a couple of inner pockets), plus stretch panels and size adjusters on the arms and sides. The removable thermal lining isn’t particularly attractive, but it does the job. This is a warm, dry, comfortable jacket that can cope with hotter or more active days, and it feels built to last too.

The cuff zips double as vents. With the thermal lining in, the cuffs can be a little too close-fitting for some bigger gloves. There’s some reflective detailing and a short trouser-connecting zip.
