Aviator Retro Pilot T3 goggles, £102
Miles covered/time: 20,000/three years
What’s good: In the course of these goggles’ high-mileage test, they’ve provided crystal clear vision, with no misting nor glare from the lenses. Beyond this, the elasticated strap has retained much of its integrity after 20,000 miles in all weathers.
The lenses pop out easily enough to be changed from dark to light (or vice versa), and securely clip back in. (£27.74 buys you the extra lenses.)
Beyond this, they look fantastic, and seat neatly between the bridge of my nose and the upper edge of the aperture of my Davida Jet helmet.
What’s not: Changing the lenses takes longer than it would to swap a visor on a full-face helmet. But where’s the old-fashioned charm in a full-face helmet?
