Parts Review: Venhill Featherlight Clutch cable

Venhill Featherlight Clutch cable £20.77
Time tested: 360 miles/1 month
What’s good? When I was adjusting the clutch on my old BMW R100R, which has plodded up and down the A1 all winter, I noticed was the cable was looking rather tired and needed replacing. Normally I go straight to BMW, but while rummaging through the internet I found Venhill’s range of cables called ‘Featherlight’, a name I am sure we are all familiar with for reasons other than cables. Venhill claim Featherlight cables make the operation of the clutch lighter, due to using a low-friction Teflon liner and marine-grade stainless steel inner wire. With just a little 3-in-1 oil dripped down the cable, I fitted the new cable following its original route and keeping it as smooth as possible with no kinks or tight corners. The finished result is noticeably lighter and smoother in action. Well worth the effort, and also provides peace of mind that the cable is not going to snap at any minute.
What’s not? Nothing I have come across. Even all the fittings on the cable matched perfectly to the original.
