Michelin Pilot Pure tyres

Michelin Pilot Pure tyres, £230

Miles covered/time: 1200/one year

What's good: These are the lightest tyres in the class according to Michelin and as road tyres for my 1998 Honda CBR600F-W they seem about perfect. When I bought the bike last year it had some old and original Michelin Macadam 90X rubber fitted. I wasn’t riding a single mile on those so got the dealer to swap them for these new tyres which have LTT (Light Tyre technology) and 2CT (dual compound) construction.

The old ones were so hard the dealer nearly broke their tyre machine breaking the bead. These motorcycle tyres suit road work perfectly; warming up well, handling the cold and the wet as easily as the dry and warmer weather of the summer. They’re inspiring loads of confidence and are wearing really well so far, too.

What's not: Nothing worth noting. There are stickier tyres and there are better ones in the wet (Michelin Pilot Road 3s are brilliant) but the Power Pure seems very accomplished and as a best of both worlds they are handling UK roads well.
