Bike of the day: Yamaha YZ125

Published: 10 February 2017

Over 130 bikes go under the hammer at the Carole Nash MCN London Motorcycle Show on February 18 as the second Coys auction gets underway. We’ve been through the catalogue and picked our highlights, here’s today’s tempting buy...

1974 Yamaha YZ125

In ’74 spec this YZ is powered by an air-cooled 23hp 123cc 2-stroke single fed by a 28mm Mikuni carb through reed valve induction with CDI ignition and a 5-speed close-ratio gearbox. A lovely example of what is (along with the YZ250) almost certainly the longest running and most successful motocross model of all time.

 Estimated: £3000 - £4000

The auction takes place in the main hall at the show so you’ll be able to watch the bidding action, if you want to bid on one of the machines you’ll need to purchase a £5 catalogue that admits two people into the bidding area.
