David Jefferies demolished his own TT records on Friday with a blistering performance in the Senior TT, storming to a new outright record of 127.29mph and a time of 17:47.00 on his GSX-R1000.

The Yorkshireman was pushed all the way by his teammate Ian Lougher who made it a one-two for TAS Suzuki with Honda’s John McGuinness third on a FireBlade.

Jefferies told MCN: ” I’m over the moon – I didn’t realise I was beating any records, I just concentrated on keeping it smooth and consistent. ”

Ronnie Smith, a road tester for MCN’s sister publication Performance Bikes, was ninth.

Junior 600 TT

There was nothing David Jefferies could do about Jim Moodie’s win in the Junior 600 TT though. While Moodie scorched around in 1:15.659 and 119.22 mph Jefferies’ GSX-R600 suffered a broken valve on lap one and pulled out.

Another retiree was McGuinness on the CBR600, a mystery engine failure bringing his race to a premature stop halfway around on lap two.

Lougher was second on the TAS Suzuki GSX-R with Jason Griffiths was third on his Yamaha R6.
