Jefferies smashes TT records to claim F1 title

David Jefferies fulfilled his pre-race promises to crack the 126mph TT lap with a record-breaking performance in the Formula One, also becoming the first man ever to beat the 18-minute lap barrier on his way to victory.

Jefferies, on the TAS Suzuki GSX-R1000, took the records on his second lap – posting a 126.68mph. And despite being stuck in third gear 12 miles from home on his last lap, his finishing time of 1:50:05 beat Steve Hislop’s record by over two minutes.

The Yorkshireman came in 40 seconds ahead of John McGuinness on the Honda UK FireBlade and Jim Moodie in third on the V&M Yamaha R1.

Ian Lougher was fourth ahead of Jason Griffiths and Iain Duffus.
