The Red Bull Rookies Honda Racing team has announced its two riders for the 2004 British 125cc championship.

The pair were selected from a group of eighteen hopefuls at an assessment day at Donington Park earlier this week. Each rider was assessed on their riding, technical ability and an interview with a panel of media professionals.

The two selected are 16-year-old Steven Neate from Barton-le-Clay in Bedfordshire and 17-year-old Eugene Laverty from Toomebridge in Country Antrim, Northern Ireland. They’ll race Honda RS125s in a team alongside Red Bull Supersport rider Jonathan Rea.

Honda team boss Neil Tuxworth said: ” Young talent, in countries like Spain and Italy, comes to the fore in development programmes such as this. We felt the need to put something back into the sport. ”
