Reynolds takes Irish double

The first overseas British Superbike race at Mondello Park saw John Reynolds top the podium, joined by Sean Emmett on the ETI Ducati, and Rizla Suzuki’s Yukio Kagayama.

Reynolds triumphed by just over one second from Emmett, who parted company with the Renegade team earlier this season. Kagayama, meanwhile, has benefitted from recent wildcard rides in the WSB and MotoGP series to claim third today.

Glen Richards took fourth on the 750cc Kawasaki, with Michael Rutter fifth, Steve Plater sixth and Gary Mason seventh. Richards teammate Scott Smart was eighth. Current championship leader Shane Byrne finished in ninth, with Leon Haslam tenth.

Race two saw another win former BSB champion Reynolds. Shane Byrne recovered from a poor first race to finish second and Glen Richards managed a good third on the Hawk Kawasaki.

Gary Mason finished fourth, ahead of Michael Rutter, Steve Plater and Leon Haslam. Sean Emmett couldn’t repeat his first race result and settled for eighth, with Mark Heckles ninth and Paul Young tenth.
